Computer Vision
Our growing dependence on screens means that we have different visual demands to previous generations. Never have we spent so much time working in the intermediate distance area.
Prior to this device driven era we either focussed at near for reading or in the distance. Technology has presented an optical challenge resulting in an increased intermediate zone in multifocal lenses and the introduction of dedicated computer spectacles.
Computer glasses reduce eye strain and associated symptoms such as headaches and neck and shoulder pain. Blue filters reduce the impact of blue light on your health and are recommended on all computer glasses.
How many episodes of TV is too much?
Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS)
While computer use will not cause eye problems, eye strain will highlight borderline eye issues. It may expose undiagnosed or uncorrected hyperopia, astigmatism or presbyopia. Eye strain, blurred vision and red eyes can indicate the presence of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).
If you have any CVS symptoms please make a time to visit one of our optometrists.
In addition to assessing your eyes we can advise on:
Lighting, glare minimisation and text size
Prevention of dry eye symptoms and irritation
Break frequency
Workspace modifications
Exercises to reduce focussing fatigue
